Here's a very elegant Secret Compartment Keychain. This beautiful compact key ring will serve two purposes. (1) It will serve as a real nice key ring that is not cumbersome . (2) It will also serve as a secret storage compartment, that hides toothpicks, paper money and reminder notes, etc.

This Secret Compartment Key Ring took a while to create. I laminated various pieces of oak , maple, walnut and carefully cut them in various sizes and re-laminated them to a brass tube that keeps the hardware together. Following , it was turn on a lathe very carefully, so that the wood blank would hold together. The Secret Compartment Key Chain is a very classic style key ring. The segmented design adds such beauty to the laminated layers of woods stretching out in various angles.


The fun part comes next , when I start turning the handle and profile it to blend with the Chrome finish on the hardware. As I'm turning each piece, I get real excited as how wonderful the laminate has turned out. I suddenly start to see all the different grains and colors of the oak, maple and walnut. I then sand the handle with multiple grits between 120 to 12000. Following: An ultra shine paste is used before I complete the handle with a CA Finish. Finally the handle is buffed with a generous amount of a blend of micro-crystalline "fossil" wax , that is highly resistant to moisture, fingerprints and heat.
